Let’s focus on the Mind…..
“Your mind is a tool you can choose to use any way you wish.”

-Louise Hay

  • Unhealthy chronic stress can really take its toll on our immune system.  If we don’t find ways to mediate the stressors in our life such traffic jams, work deadlines, paying bills, teen agers, relationships, etc.,  disease can find its way into our bodies.
  • Epinephrine produced from the psychological stress in our bodies, can produce other hormones in excess such as testosterone, estrogen, cortisol to name a few. As these hormones rise, our immune system’s  natural fighting tumor cells, decrease in number as unwanted inflammation rises.  A perfect storm for many types of diseases can then find an open door.

Ways to Mediate Stress:

  • Forgive who you need to forgive, including yourself. Many psychologists believe that all disease comes from a place of unforgiveness in  our hearts.

Not convinced that forgiveness has that much power over you?

Studies have shown that when we can let go of resentment (that doesn’t mean condone ), which is the mental act of letting go( we can pray for and/or  write down who we forgive), our subsequent cortisol levels decrease, anxiety, depression, blood pressure and overall happiness in life improves.

  • Keeping a Gratitude Journal, thanking God for your healing loving relationships that surrounds you, studies show that supports physical and psychological health.

Mindfulness:~ Simple Stress Relieving Technique:Sit up straight in a comfortable chair and close your eyes. Be in the present moment.

Begin by taking a deep breath and hold it for 5 seconds.. Exhale and relax, pause for 5 seconds. Relax your abdomen, your shoulders , arms and legs, letting all go. Repeat this breathing pattern again, but this time when you breathe in, visualize breathing in “peace”. Hold and breathe out “pain.”

Repeat this breathing exercise again, breathing in “love”.  Now exhale “fear.”
Repeat again for 2 more times, breathing in “hope”  and exhale “doubt.”

Now, just breathe normally and visualize yourself healthy, strong, empowered, relaxed and confident.

Simple Prayers:

Holy Spirit, drive away from me all forms of sickness and disease. Restore strength to my body and joy to my spirit, so that in my renewed health, I may bless and serve You, now and forevermore.

Dear God, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.  I reach forward today, touch the hem of Your garment , and receive my healing.  Yes, I want to get well. Give me the faith to walk in freedom and victory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen (Sharon Jaynes)

O God of peace, who hast taught us that in  returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be our strength: By the might of thy Spirit lift us, we pray thee, to thy presence, where we may still and know that thou art God: through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen Episcopal Prayer

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13

What is impossible with men is possible with God.  Luke l8:27
